Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

In addition to design by rule calculations, Langfields also offers design of pressure vessel components utilising ANSYS Workbench FEA software.

Current FEA capabilities include;

  • Creation of model using ANSYS’ own DesignModeller.
  • Analysis carried out to PD5500, ASME VIII Div. 2 and BS EN 13445 Annex C.
  • Linear Elastic Analysis of pressure vessel components that do not meet code requirements – for example, nozzles in dished head knuckle region (PD5500).
  • Produce full FEA report showing stress linearisation results and overall conclusions.
